Lacrima Di Morro D’Alba D.O.C. 75cl (2018) COLONNARA
£14.17 per bottle
The Lacrima is grown on the hills surrounding the village of Morro d’Alba and it takes its name from a peculiarity connected with its berries, which, when mature, release “tears” of grape juice that fall to the ground. The ancient origins of this vine, which was traditionally grown with elms and maples, date back to the twelfth century when Frederick Barbarossa, in 1167, besieged the city of Ancona and chose the castle of Morro d’Alba as his home. An intense purple red colour with ruby reflections, and a characteristic, persistent and intense bouquet with a strong prevalence of forest fruits. Very typical, dry and sapid with a pleasant smoothness and harmonious taste. Perfect when served with meaty first courses and mains but is also extremely enjoyable alone.
