Brunello Di Montalcino D.O.C.G. 1.5lt (2011) COL D’ORCIA
£75.70 per bottle
Col d’Orcia is a traditional producer of Brunello di Montalcino, choosing to stick to the use of large Slavonian oak barrels for ageing long before the debate between modernist and traditionalist producers began. Respecting the tradition of the Sangiovese from Montalcino allows for the best ageing potential both in wood and in the bottle – Col d’Orcia age the Brunello in wood for a minimum of 3 years prior to bottling. Its colour is ruby with violet hues, and its bouquet is intense, full and elegant with fruity notes of ripe blackberry and raspberry, typical of Sangiovese. These aromas are enveloped in woody scents thanks to the long ageing in barrels. Highly structured, full and persistent, with ripe soft tannins that are perfectly balanced, and with a long, pleasant and sapid aftertaste.
