The name of Sardus Pater’s leading red comes from the Sardinian dialect “arruga” meaning “road” – “s’arruga” is used for the dirt road leading into a vineyard, hence the link between road and wine. The wine is vinified in steel vats for 15 days before maturing in Allier wood barrique for 12 months, and then a further 12 months in the bottle. The result is a wine with an intense ruby red colour, and a bouquet of blueberries and plums, sweet spices, bay leaf, juniper, tobacco and chocolate. In the mouth it is rich, warm, soft and fruity, with hints of spice and sweet tannins. An excellent wine to accompany grilled or roasted meats, and aromatic or mature cheeses.
